Welcome

Welcome to the State of Rhode Island’s COVID-19 Transparency Portal, where you will find how State agencies are using federal funds to protect the health and welfare of Rhode Islanders and continue providing critical services during these unprecedented times.

Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Rhode Island received $1.25 billion through the Coronavirus Relief Fund.

These funds can be used to cover expenses that:

  • are necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency with respect to COVID-19;
  • were not accounted for in the budget most recently approved by the State; and
  • were incurred during the period that begins on March 1, 2020 and ends on December 30, 2020.

In addition, the State is receiving at least $300 million in federal funding. This money can be used for a variety of purposes, including funding existing programs, expanding programs, launching new programs and providing some competitive/discretionary funds.

Like all resources available to the State, we are committed to using these funds responsibly and with complete transparency. Every month, this website will be updated so you can see how exactly we are spending these emergency funds with respect to medical equipment, testing, contracts, services and all of the necessary items that are setting Rhode Island on the path to recovery.

Thank you for visiting the COVID-19 Transparency Portal.
